“Courageous leaps into the unknown, the natural order of spontaneous events, splash of grace, life flow.”
In August of 2019, at 62 years old, I chose to let go of living in the USA and travel the world volunteering and being creative. This was not the first time I had chosen to take a whole new direction with my life. When I arrived in Australia covid happened. Happy to stay put, I extended my 3 month visa. As you will read in my book, writing was non existent on my creative abilities list. I had been an artist of the “visual” artwork type and yet after enjoying a live 3 a.m. zoom gathering with writer David Whyte I could not help but write.
A new world opened up, and I was not only very amused with what had happened after being so clear that writing was never going to be “my thing” but also amazed that poetry was flowing so effortlessly. None of this had been planned or expected.
The depth of my life adventures and experiences were now taking form in a playful, gentle way, with words that then challenged me to perform a duet with the visual art I had created over the years. I courageously went for it, creating an eBook with my writing and artwork, which was yet another “first”.
After sharing the eBook with friends, I began to receive encouragement for publishing a book, so, on a role with the amount of new adventures in my life I happily continued with the flow of events.
I spent 4 years, traveling the world, being creative, living a simple and high-quality life volunteering and being supportive of others while also having quality time for myself and am now happily a resident in New Zealand. It is my hope that this book will inspire you to live an adventurous full life as well and navigate change from a creative joyful place.
